PROGRAM
Snowshoeing in the enchanted valleys of the Dolomites
Discover the charm of the Dolomites in winter, the period during which the mountains show themselves under a veil of magic: since the very first snowflakes the landscape wears its white cloak and turns into an enchanted world, ready to be explored.
In the company of Trentino Mountain Guides we will discover the environment in a new way, by snowshoeing on some of the most beautiful itineraries in Val di Sole and Val Rendena.
Huts, snowdrifts, gentle climbs and sleigh rides are just some of the experiences that await us in these three days: there will be the typical tastes of Trentino tradition, ready to be enjoyed in cheerful company among the four comfortable walls of alpine huts.
Program details:
- 1° day - VAL DI RABBI
At 08:30 meeting with the Mountain Guide, equipment check and independent transfer to Rabbi Fonti. The tour begins here, on an easy path which leads up to Saent Falls, skirting the Rabbies stream. After admiring the majestic landscape, we walk over "The monumental larches path", an interesting trail to discover ancient larches grown at 1.900 meters on impervious soils and exposed to atmospheric agents which have given them peculiar shapes. Then, we come back to the Malga to enjoy a typical alpine lunch before returning to our cars while riding the sleds. Accommodation in hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
- 2° day - BRENTA DOLOMITES
At 08:00 meeting with the Mountain Guide and independent transfer to Madonna di Campiglio. Snowshoes on, we pass among larches and pines to reach in less than an hour the solitary mountain hut located at 1.770 m. The hut reflectes its shadows in the frozen waters of the enchanted Lake Nambino. Along gentle slopes and open spaces we then continue towards Ritorto Pass (2.275 m), the best location to admire the imposing Brenta Dolomites right in front of us. We descend, along the same way, to the hut where a tasty hot lunch is waiting for us, right before heading back to the starting point. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
- 3° day - VAL DI PEIO
At 08:30 meeting with the Mountain Guide and independent transfer to Peio village. The loop itinerary starts from Dosso di San Rocco where we stop for a visit to the little church and the Austro-Hungarian military cemetery. By walking over a forest road we cross by a typical mountain building (the Maso) and then reach the peculiar Lake Covel and the homonymous waterfalls. Along "Via dei Monti", an ancient mule track which connects the village of Peio, we walk up to the hut to enjoy a traditional lunch surrounded by Ortles Cevedale peaks. Last stretch of descent, first through a dense fir forest and then across wide pastures, to finally reach the starting point again.
