PROGRAM
Guided 3-day hut to hut via ferrata in the Brenta Dolomites
Bocchette is one of the best and most beautiful via ferrata tour in the Dolomites and it is the quintessential symbol of Brenta Dolomites. This via ferrata is also one of the most complete and articulated via ferrata systems in the Alps.
The accomplishment of this peculiar high-altitude route began in the 1930s to connect all the huts in Brenta Dolomites with a single crossing. Taking advantage of the mountains' natural ledges it allows hikers to explore the extraordinary vertical world and enjoy the spectacular Dolomites at an altitude above 2.500 meters.
The via ferrata covers in 3 days the most famous part of this great crossing, which actually runs along the whole Brenta massif starting from Grostè Pass to the hut Rifugio XII Apostoli.
Program details:
- Day 1 - BENINI ROUTE
Hiking time: 5h (3h via ferrata).
At 08:30 meeting with the Mountain Guide and equipment check. Ascent by lifts to Grostè Pass (2.442 m) and from here, in a short time, we reach the first equipped ledge of Benini route: the ideal introduction to the fascinating world of via ferrata. While enjoying the overwhelming views over the rocky towers of Val Flavona, we go around Grosté Massif and, skirting the slopes of Falkner peak, we keep on hiking towards Bocca del Tuckett. Last descent on well-equipped rocks, until the hut. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2.272 m).
- Day 2 - SOSAT ROUTE
Hiking time: 4h (3h via ferrata).
Sosat route is a well-known via ferrata set on the eastern side of Brenta Dolomites and, by long metal ladders and pegs, it leads to Vedretta degli Sfulmini, a peculiar natural amphitheater surrounded by vertical walls. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2.580 m).
- Day 3 - BOCCHETTE CENTRALI
Hiking time: 7h30 (4h via ferrata).
After a short ascent, we reach Bocca d'Armi and the start of Bocchette Centrali, the most spectacular section of the whole itinerary. It is characterized by a pronounced exposure of the spots along the side of the mountain overlooking Lake Molveno, and by a scenic crossing underneath Campanile Basso (2.620 m). The route ends once we reach Bocca di Brenta; the descent along Val Brenta begins here, by following the scenic Bogani route we reach Rifugio Vallesinella (1.513 m), our last stop. Return by public transport to the meeting point and departure.
