PROGRAM

Hiking tour from the Stelvio National Park to the Brenta Dolomites: a tour that combines the beauty of the Alps with the towering peaks of the Dolomites

What you are about to discover is a hut-to-hut itinerary that takes you through two extremely different alpine environments: on one side, the green glacial valleys of the Stelvio National Park, and on the other, the spectacular vertical landscapes of the Brenta Dolomites. These are true natural gems of western Trentino that come together in a single hut‑to‑hut journey, offering a route with landscapes in constant evolution. The scenery changes continuously, and each day reveals something new.

Starting from the Val di Sole, the tour leads you into the heart of the Ortles‑Cevedale range, an untouched territory shaped by ancient glaciers. Here you walk among high‑altitude meadows, bright open valleys, crystal‑clear streams and waterfalls that plunge down rugged slopes. At the foot of the snow‑capped peaks marking the border between Trentino and South Tyrol, you breathe in the most authentic atmosphere of the mountains, surrounded by wide silent spaces inhabited by marmots, chamois and a nature that still retains all its wild spirit.

As you continue southwards, the character of the route gradually changes and the quiet landscapes of Stelvio give way to the dramatic scenery of the Brenta Dolomites. A short transfer takes you to the entrance of the Adamello Brenta Nature Park, where you find yourself immersed in a completely different world: vertical rock faces, suspended ledges, sharp ridges and towering pinnacles rising toward the sky - an alpine environment sculpted by geology and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its unique value. The tour ends in Madonna di Campiglio, one of the most renowned resorts for those who love a mix of mountain charm, shopping and lively après‑trek atmosphere.

Throughout the journey, you will stay in welcoming alpine huts located within the two major mountain groups of the area. The contrast between these two environments creates a truly unique trekking experience, allowing you to discover - within a single adventure - the essence of the two most spectacular faces of Trentino: the Alps and the Dolomites.

In the morning, you travel by public transport to Val di Rabbi, one of the most authentic and peaceful valleys of the Stelvio National Park. After enjoying the view, you follow a trail that leads through dense larch and spruce forests toward several mountain dairies, where farmers spend the summer processing fresh milk using traditional methods. It’s easy to hear the soft clanging of cowbells in the pastures and breathe in the simple, genuine atmosphere of alpine life. Once you pass the tree line, you enter wide alpine meadows where the landscape opens up, and, following a steadily ascending path, you reach the slopes of Cima Quaira. In a short time, you arrive at the first mountain hut for the night. After a well‑deserved break, you may choose to continue with a short climb leading to the enchanting Corvo Lakes, a group of small alpine ponds nestled among rocks and high‑mountain grasslands. Dinner and overnight stay in a mountain hut.

  • Day 3 - COLLECCHIO PEAK
    Ascent: +530m. Descent: -530m. Altitude: 2430 - 2960m. Distance: 8km. Hiking time: 4h.
You follow a pleasant trail that winds through a bright, peaceful landscape dotted with a succession of glacial lakes. As you continue along the route, the ascent becomes gradual and leads you toward the summit of Cima del Collecchio which, at 2.957 meters, marks the boundary between the South Tyrolean valley of Montechiesa and the Trentino region. From the top, the view opens onto a vast crown of mountains, with glaciers, valleys, and ridges unfolding in every direction. After a panoramic stretch along an easy ridge, the path skirts the slopes of the mountain and then descends toward the wide green basin at the heart of Val Saent. Once you reach the mountain hut, you are welcomed by the warm atmosphere of alpine hospitality and a wholesome dinner prepared with local ingredients. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.

  • Day 4 - SAENT WATERFALLS
    Ascent: +80m. Descent: -1290m. Altitude: 1380 - 2260m. Distance: 8km. Hiking time: 6h.
Today you enjoy a pleasant and panoramic descent through the upper Val Saent along a trail that winds down across wide alpine meadows, brightened by blooming rhododendrons and home to many marmots, which often appear darting between the rocks or peeking out from their burrows. Once you cross the broad expanse of the Pra di Saent, the trail leads you across wooden bridges and alongside the magnificent water features of the Saent Waterfalls, the most majestic in the Val di Sole. Here the water plunges powerfully in a series of dramatic drops, creating fresh sprays and rainbows that accompany you on your descent toward the valley floor. At the end of the hike, a traditional mountain dairy awaits you—a delicious and satisfying conclusion to this first part of the trek before you head toward the Brenta Dolomites. From the Coler car park, a private transfer takes you to the Grosté cable‑car departure station. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.

As you continue, the landscape becomes increasingly vast and dramatic, leading you to the most impressive natural amphitheatre of the entire Brenta Group—one of the most breathtaking viewpoints in all the Dolomites. It is here that you find the starting point of the iconic “Sentiero delle Bocchette,” the most famous via ferrata in the Alps and a true symbol of the Brenta, an authentic masterpiece of equipped alpine mountaineering. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.

  • Day 6 - VALLESINELLA WATERFALLS
    Ascent: +40m. Descent: -1110m. Altitude: 1510 - 2580m. Distance: 9km. Hiking time: 4h.
After one last breakfast in the mountains, you leave behind the vertical, rocky landscape of the Brenta Dolomites and begin descending toward lower elevations, gradually re‑entering increasingly dense vegetation. Walking through larch forests, you reach the Vallesinella Waterfalls, one of the most enchanting places in the area. This intricate system of cascades, wooden bridges, walkways and lively streams flows rapidly between moss‑covered rocks, creating a refreshing and atmospheric descent through the forest. Once the hike is complete, you return to Val di Sole by public transport, after strolling through the streets of Madonna di Campiglio. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
