PROGRAM
The extended traverse in the Brenta Dolomites: Sosat Route, Brentari Route, Bocchette Centrali and Bocchette Alte
If you are looking for an epic, adrenaline-filled experience in the Dolomites, you are in the right place. One of the most spectacular mountain regions, the Brenta Dolomites, is home to one of the most complete and fascinating via ferrata systems in the entire Alps: the Bocchette route. The Grand Tour of Via Ferrata develops along this extraordinary route, connecting mountain huts entirely via via ferrata routes.
Starting from Vallesinella, the itinerary leads you along an easy trail to Rifugio Tuckett. The crossing begins right here and will take you through the rocky heart of the Brenta. The Sosat route is the first and perfect approach to the world of via ferrata, before continuing on the more challenging Brentari route. The tour continues on the legendary Bocchette Centrali, the most famous and aerial section, and finally comes to an end with the wild Bocchette Alte, which takes you to higher altitudes.
It is a complete and challenging itinerary that, between vertical walls, ladders, and exposed ledges, leads you to discover breathtaking views, suspended between rock and sky, in the heart of the Brenta Dolomites.
All in the company of an expert UIAGM Mountain Guide, who will make this trip safe and unforgettable.
Program details:
- Day 1
Arrival in Madonna di Campiglio and check-in in 3* hotel.
- Day 2 - TUCKETT
Hiking time: 5h (ascent 1000m)
In the morning, meeting with the mountain guide and check of your equipment. The adventure begins in Vallesinella, an area famous for its extraordinary series of waterfalls that create a natural spectacle. Initially, the trail winds through the woods until it emerges from the vegetation, where the landscape changes dramatically. The vegetation thins out and gives way to the rocky walls of the Brenta. The last stretch to the hut for the night becomes steeper, but the view is well worth the effort. Once at the hut, and in agreement with the mountain guide, you can take a side hike on a short section of equipped trail, the Dallagiacoma Route. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.
- Day 3 - SOSAT ROUTE
Hiking time: 5h30 (3h via ferrata)
It's time to hike on your first via ferrata and the Sosat route is the perfect way to start. It is a well-known but relatively easy via ferrata, which uses long metal ladders and pegs to wind its way up the eastern side of the Brenta Group. The route ends near Rifugio Brentei, which offers spectacular views of the Crozzon di Brenta and Cima Tosa. After a short break, you begin the final stretch of the day to reach the next hut. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.
- Day 4 - BRENTARI ROUTE
Hiking time: 6h (3h via ferrata)
Leaving the hut behind, you soon reach the start of the Brentari Route. The via ferrata runs along the south face of Cima Tosa to the pass of the same name, along a high-altitude route that runs between ledges and scree slopes.
Once past the equipped section, it’s time to descend toward the Ambiez Glacier, skirting the slopes of the peak of the same name until you arrive at Rifugio Agostini. Here, a spectacular view of the surrounding peaks opens up. Continuing along the itinerary, the route leads you onto the Palmieri trail, which unfolds among rocks and high-mountain pastures in a rugged environment, eventually bringing you back to your starting point. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.
- Day 5 - BOCCHETTE CENTRALI
Hiking time: 5h (3h via ferrata)
Your tour continues with Bocchette Centrali: the most spectacular part of the entire route. The via ferrata is notable for its high exposure, especially in the passages on the slopes facing Molveno. It is not technically difficult, but it includes some aerial passages that will give you an adrenaline rush. The most iconic moment is undoubtedly the passage under Campanil Basso, one of the most famous peaks in the Dolomites. Here you can enjoy breathtaking views.
- Day 6 - BOCCHETTE ALTE
Hiking time: 7h (4h via ferrata)
After an energetic breakfast, it's time to set off for Bocchette Alte. This section is known for being the most technical and wildest of the entire route. Along the way, you can try your hand on impressive vertical ladders and exposed ledges, which lead along the eastern slope of Cima Brenta. Once you reach Bocca Alta dei Massodi, you begin the climb up the famous Scala degli Amici, which is a 30-meters long ladder that takes you to Spallone dei Massodi, the highest point of the entire traverse. The via ferrata ends at the Bocca di Tuckett and you continue on an easy trail toward the Grostè Pass, from where you take the cable car down to the valley. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 7
After breakfast, check-out and departure.
Program details - Group departure:
The group departure follows the same itinerary, but does not include hotel accommodation before and after the hike. The meeting on the first hiking day is at Grostè cable car parking area.
