Ski tour on Adamello Glaciers: Cresta Croce, Adamello and Mandrone
An unforgettable ski tour which in only 3 days takes you to discover the big wild slopes right in the heart of the largest glacier in the Italian Alps: Adamello glacier.
A hut-to-hut ski touring itinerary, walking through the locations where the memories of the Great War come back to live, such as the "Hippopotamo" Cannon – named in this way by the Alpini who dragged it up from the small town of Temù to an altitude of 3,300 metres.
The adventure includes the ascent of Adamello peak - one of the top destinations for mountaineers and skitourers all over the world - and it ends with the exciting freeride descent of Pisganino!
Program details
- 1° day - CANNONE DELL'ADAMELLO 3.315 m
Ascent: +880m. Descent: -850m. Skiing time: 6h.
At 08:00 meeting with the Guide and ascent by cable car to Passo Presena. Our ski tour begins towards Cannone G149. The canoon is a 60 quintals artillery piece that was towed up here in 1916, with a titanic effort made by the Alpine troops. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (3.040 m).
- 2° day - MONTE ADAMELLO 3.539m
Ascent: +550m. Descent: -1140m. Skiing time: 7h.
In the morning, skitour ascending Adamello peak along Pian di Neve glacier. This is a medium-easy difficulty itinerary thanks to the moderate elevation gain, which gradually increases while reaching the summit. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2.449 m).
- 3° day - LAKE PISGANA 2.933 m
Ascent: +630m. Descent: -1680m. Skiing time: 5h.
Last climb uphill to Passo del Lago Pisgana. You will then enjoy the Pisganino descent that with more than 2000m downhill leads to Ponte di Legno. Return by cable car to Passo Tonale and departure.
Additional clarifications
The program could be changed at discretion of Campo Base Team / Mountain Guide - UIAGM based on weather conditions and snow levels, mantaining however inalterate the basic structure and the aims of the proposal.
