PROGRAM
Ski Safari expolring Aosta Valley: Courmayeur, Cervinia and Zermatt
There’s a place where skiing goes beyond sport and becomes a true exploration: welcome to Aosta Valley. You are in a region home to some of the most iconic alpine peaks – Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn and Gran Paradiso – offering year-round opportunities for mountain and outdoor lovers. During winter season, Aosta Valley turns into a ski paradise, with over 300 km of slopes at the foot of the heights 4,000 – meter peaks in the Alps. This is the perfect destination if you want to experience the mountains on skis, in a journey that never stands still.
In this Ski Safari itinerary every day brings you to new slopes, new mountain faces and sceneries – always with a front-row view of the Alpine giants. Thanks to the modern lifts system, you don’t ski just in Italy, but you can reach also French and Switzerland with the skies on your feet. Get ready for an international ski adventure, where the snow is the true and undisputed protagonist!
You start in Courmayeur, one of the most iconic ski destinations in Italy – an elegant alpine village at the foot of Mont Blanc where mountaineering history meets the refined traditional alpine lifestyles.
The slopes of Checrouit offer sunny and wide-open slopes, while Val Veny awaits you for wilder, more natural atmosphere. It’s the perfect place to warm up your legs. From here, the journey continues into France, taking you to the international ski area of La Thuile–La Rosière. Crossing the border is simple: just keep skiing. Mont Blanc follows you from an even more majestic perspective. At the hearth of your ski safari tour you move higher and higher. Thanks to the Skyway Monte Bianco you reach Punta Helbronner at 3,466 m a.s.l. From here, the entire Mont Blanc glacier unfolds in front of you – a truly majestic experience. Then you continue your journey with the legendary Mer de Glace descent, skiing all the way down to Chamonix.
Leaving Courmayeur behind you, this sensational journey takes you to another iconic location in the Alps: Cervinia. Cervinia. Breuil-Cervinia is a unique high-altitude destination, where the Matterhorn rises like a stone cathedral above the valley. Despite the elevation and low temperatures, it’s one of the sunniest resorts in winter – known as “the resort always in the sun”. Here skiing means verticality thanks to lifts that take you above 3,000 meters. The high altitudes allow for excellent natural snowfall and perfect conditions throughout the winter season. But with one more country still missing from your list, it's time to cross the border: Zermatt, the Swiss ski capital.
Throughout the entire trip, a certified UIAGM mountain guide is by your side. The guide is not only about safety, but also about freedom. Together you will chase the best snow and choose the best slopes, maximizing your experience both on and off piste.
The Aosta Valley is indeed one of the best freeride hotspots in the Alps. While the itinerary structure stays the same – with a new ski area every day – it can be adapted based on snow conditions and your level and technical ability. With advance requests, you can include some of the best off-piste runs into the region. Off-piste routes are mostly accessible, but they require all-mountain equipment. If you choose a mixed on-piste / off-piste experience, you should be confident skiing parallel turns and handling black slopes.
If you prefer staying on slopes, you can still add off-piste experiences during the trip with rental equipment available.
At the end of each day, you return to comfortable 4-star base camp hotels for your stay. Your ski safari tour includes 4 nights in Courmayer, an elegant, authentic and full of restaurants and alpine traditions and 3 nights in Cervinia, bright, more dynamic village dominated by the Matterhorn skyline.
This tour is designes for those who are looking for fun and willing to explore the Alps beyond a single resort. In one single ski safari tour you combine skiing, mountain experience, alpine culture and comfort, majestic landscapes and verticalities.
It’s not just a ski holiday, it’s a journey through the most iconic mountains in Europe, to be experienced turn after turn.

- Day 2 - SKI AREA COURMAYEUR - CHECROUIT/VAL VENY
Your first ski day takes place in the Courmayeur ski resort, with over 42 km of varied slopes suitable for every skiing level. The area develops across two sides: Val Veny on one side and Plan Chécrouit on the other side, up to Cresta d’Arp (2.750 m asl). The ski resort combines panoramic slopes with forest runs and stunning views over Mont Blanc. Slopes on Plan Chécrouit side are perfect to start the day and warm you up with their wide, sunny and open descends, while Val Veny offers scenic skiing through the forest and with a breathtaking scenery over Mont Blanc. If you love technical skiing, head to Youla and Arp, the wildest areas of the resort.
The entire day is a balanced combination of skiing on varied slopes, always surrounded by majestic Alpine scenery. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 3 - LA THUILE & ROSIERE
Today’s itinerary lets you explore an international ski area. From Courmayeur, you reach La Thuile, a small village located in a large dip dominated by Rutor glacier and a gateway the Escape San Bernando, connected on skis to France. It’s one of the biggest ski resort in Aosta Valley thanks to the international connection with the French resort of Rosière. It’s a true frontier ski area, among the most varied, iconic and adrenaline-filled in the Alps. It offers a particular long-lasting ski season and is nestled amidst wild, pristine peaks. Over 152 km of slopes that reach the 2,800 m asl of Mont Valaisan, the highest point in the area, where the view extends from the Mont Blanc massif to the Tarentaise. Wide, sunny slopes alternate with more technical ones. If you want a real adrenaline rushm the legendary Franco Berthod slope nr. 3 awaits you, which, with a maximum gradient of 76%, is the steepest slope in Italy and has hosted the Women’s World Cup. In the afternoon you will return to Courmayeur. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 4 - SKYWAY MONTE BIANCO and MER DE GLACE
Today is all about verticality, breathtaking views, and thrills: get ready to touch the sky. Starting at 1,300 meters, ascend with the Skyway Monte Bianco to Punta Helbronner at 3,466 meters. This is a technological and engineering marvel. In just a few minutes, this lift transcends the sky limits and takes you to incredible heights. The first section takes you to Pavillon at 2,173 meters. Here, you'll find a large terrace offering a 180° view of Mont Blanc and the Val Veny. Further along, you ascend to Punta Helbronner, the highest point in Italy at 3,466 meters. The circular terrace above the station offers a 360° view of the four-thousand-meters mountain peaks of the Western Alps: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and Gran Paradiso. After admiring the view, it's time to set off on the Mer de Glace descent, which, with its 24 km length and 2,400 meters of altitude difference, is the most famous off-piste descent in the Alps. From the first meter, you'll be skiing on one of Europe's largest glaciers, surrounded by peaks that every mountaineer dreams reaching. The setting is undoubtedly evocative, but at the same time, it makes you reflect on the glacier's significant retreat in recent years. The descent ends in the splendid village of Chamonix, on the French side of Mont Blanc. Return to Courmayeur.
For those not interested in off-piste skiing, where the ascent to the panoramic viewpoint is located, it's possible to descend back to the valley and spend the afternoon back in the Courmayeur area. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 5 - SKI AREA CREVACOL or PILA
For today, there are two options, depending on the type of tour you choose. If you've chosen to try off-piste skiing, you will take a morning transfer to Crevacol, a small ski area dominating the village of Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses. The ski resort offers approximately 20 km of slopes, making it an extraordinary Aosta Valley off-piste paradise. Conditions permitting, there are powder runs suitable for everyone. At Crevacol, skiing is primarily in the woods and on open slopes starting from the mountain stations. After a few runs in the ski area, the chosen objective for the day is the route that takes you to the slopes of the Great St. Bernard Pass, along a slope where the snow remains cold and dry. The environment is certainly solitary and wild. In summer, the St. Bernard Tunnel offers a direct connection between Aosta and Switzerland. At the end of your skiing, a transfer awaits you to take you to Cervinia, at the foot of the magnificent Matterhorn.
If you prefer to continue skiing on the slopes, the transfer will take you to Aosta, where in just 18 minutes a comfortable gondola lift will whisk you up to 1,800 meters in the Pila ski area. The view upon arrival is spectacular: Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn, and Gran Paradiso—these imposing mountains open up before you. The area offers approximately 70 km of slopes, rising up to 2,700 m. In the afternoon, return to Aosta, where your driver will be waiting to take you to Cervinia. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 6 - CERVINO SKI PARADISE
The name "Ski Paradise" already gives you an idea of the beauty that awaits you in this ski area. It is the highest ski area in the Alps, watched over from every angle by the Matterhorn. Connecting Breuil-Cervinia, Valtournenche, and Zermatt, it offers over 300 km of slopes. Today, you can spend your entire day skiing on the Italian side, without crossing into Switzerland. Starting from Breuil-Cervinia, located at 2,050 meters, you have direct access to the ski slopes, which extend up to the 3,883 meters of the Klein Matterhorn. Between Plateau Rosà, Cime Bianche, and the Theodul plateau, every run offers open spaces and a sense of total freedom. If you want to admire the imposing silhouette of the Matterhorn up close, the "Pancheron" chairlift takes you into the Breuil wide valley, an exclusive area for admiring the giant's crests. Also not to be missed is the Ventina descent, the most well-known and popular among ski addicted. With its 11 km, it alternates with steep walls and breathtaking schuss, leading you all the way to the village of Cervinia. The area also offers a ski-in/ski-out connection to Valtournenche, where the Gran Pista takes you right into the village—a true mountain gem. If you're looking for a touch of adventure, the area also offers natural freeride trails, perfect for exploring in complete safety with your own guide. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 7 - CERVINIA-ZERMATT GLACIER
The final day is an intensive convergence of majestic mountains and landscapes that crown your week of skiing. From Cervinia, you quickly ascend the Italian side to the 3,883m Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, the highest panoramic point in Europe. Here, the panorama opens up onto a crown of 4,000-meter peaks that seem so close. You have the feeling of being above the clouds, in an environment that belongs only to the high mountains. With your skis on, you cross the Italian-Swiss border to hurtle down the slopes that lead to Zermatt. The view of the Matterhorn from the Swiss side is one of the most iconic images in the Alps: a perfect pyramid. Zermatt is designed to welcome international skiers of all levels and visitors seeking authentic destinations. Thanks to its location, it enjoys copious snowfall throughout the winter, ensuring excellent slope preparation. The return to Italy is once again skiing the wide slopes of Cervinia, where the day and your tour come to an end. Dinner on your own. Overnight stay in hotel.
- Day 8
After breakfast, check-out and departure
