PROGRAM
Trekking in the Stelvio National Park: guided trekking among alpine huts and refuges
A simple trek at the foot of the peaks of the Ortles Cevedale, in a place where unspoilt nature meets the charm of alpine traditions. In Val di Rabbi there is still the custom of mountain pasture, the summer movement of livestock from the valley floor to pastures at high altitude.
Along the route you will encounter some typical wooden and stone buildings, the so-called alpine pastures. Some huts are dedicated exclusively to the hospitality of animals and the production of dairy products, others offer the possibility of refreshment and accommodation. Some huts have been recently renovated and have comfortable private rooms decorated in alpine style. After spending a regenerating night we will completely immerse ourselves in the alpine spirit spending our second night in a refuge, where we can live in sharing with hikers and mountaineers the pure essence of the mountain!
A trekking that combines the knowledge of the rural world, the traditional hospitality of Trentino and good Alpine cuisine with the scents and sounds of nature within the largest protected area of the Alps.
Program details:
- DAY 1: VAL MALEDA - After reaching the wonderful Val di Rabbi we will meet the mountain guide who, after a brief briefing, will lead us to discover the secrets of the Stelvio National Park. We will cross an impressive bridge suspended 100 meters from the ground and then continue the route in the woods. To welcome you along the way there will be cows, sheep and horses that will keep you company during the last stretch of slight climb. Once at the hut you will feel immediately welcomed by a genuine family hospitality and, waiting for a good dinner of local products, you can watch the traditional milking. Dinner and overnight in the mountain hut (2060m). + 885m / -70m / 8km / 4h
- DAY 2: VAL SAENT - today waking up at first lights is a must! After an energic breakfast with products at km 0, everyone must be ready to watch the milk processing before heading to the next alpine hut. With a gradual ascent the trail skirts the coast of the mountain overlooking Val Saent and passing through vast grassy slopes and clear waterways it reaches a wide hollow at the foot of Ortler Cevedale. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2437m). +400m / -30m / 8km / 4h
- DAY 3: SAENT WATERFALLS - pleasant and panoramic descent surrounded by marmots and rhododendron flowers. Once overpassed the wide expanse of Pra di Saent, the trail passes between the bridges and the water features of Saent waterfalls, the most majestic in Val di Sole. The mountain dairy right at the end of the trail will be a great and tasty conclusion of the trek, before returning by public transport to the car park. +0m / -920m / 6km / 3h30
