PROGRAM
Alta Via 2 Dolomites - the Trek of the Legends
The Alta Via 2 of the Dolomites, also known as the “Trek of Legends”, is one of the great long-distance traverses of the Dolomites: a route that runs from northwest to southeast across a long succession of mountain groups, from the Plose to the Odle, from the Puez to the Sella, and finally to the Pale di San Martino and the Feltrine Alps.
The Campo Base trekking develops along the second half of the itinerary, the wildest and most scenic section of the Alta Via 2. This is where the route reveals its most authentic character: from the rocky plateaus of the Pale di San Martino to the wide grassy basins of the Vette Feltrine, a continuous sequence of changing landscapes that accompanies the journey from Passo Valles all the way to Feltre.
This part of the AV2 is considered one of the most captivating sections of the Western Dolomites, both for the variety of its scenery and for its natural richness. The trail maintains an average altitude of around 2,100 meters, with high points approaching 3,000 meters, and includes some technical passages on exposed terrain, partly equipped with fixed cables. It is a route that requires sure footing and solid hiking experience, but rewards every effort with grandiose views and the unmistakable atmosphere of true high mountain terrain.
