Trekking among Alpine huts and mountain pastures

The trekking route among the Alpine huts and mountain pastures of Val di Rabbi is a three-day itinerary. It starts in a wooded area and gradually reaches higher altitudes, where the vegetation becomes sparser and gives way to magnificent views of the Maddalene mountain group and the Brenta Dolomites.
In a short time, you will reach the Alpine hut, which offers a comfortable panoramic terrace where you can relax. Towards evening, the cattle return from the pasture with the shepherd, and a typical dinner will be waiting for you at the hut before you rest in beautiful, recently renovated rooms.
The next day, you will wake up before dawn to reach Cima Vese, at 2,400 metres above sea level, and enjoy the start of the day at high altitude. On your return, a breakfast with local products will be waiting for you.
The gastronomic experiences do not end there: at lunch, you will enjoy a delicious barbecue, and later you will wait for the cows to return so you can watch the milking and cheese-making process. The dairy products are served at dinner, together with other local specialities.

Mountain Huts: Tradition and Innovation

Mountain huts are typical Alpine structures used by shepherds during the summer season to take cows, sheep and other animals up to the mountain pastures.

Alpine pasture farming is a summer activity that allows animals to spend the season at high altitude: a real “holiday” in the mountains for them. During the day, the animals graze freely in the meadows, while in the evening the shepherd brings them back to the hut, where they spend the night.

At dawn and upon their return, the animals are milked, and the milk is then taken from the mountain huts to the dairies in the lower valley, or processed directly at altitude when there is also a cheesemaker — the person who makes the cheese.

Alpine Hospitality

In Trentino, many mountain huts have recently been renovated and converted into accommodation facilities, meaning they can now welcome guests and serve meals.
During this trekking experience, you will have the chance to spend two nights in a recently renovated mountain hut and sleep in charming rooms filled with the pleasant scent of Swiss stone pine, designed by local carpenters.
Each room was created by a different artisan, making every space truly unique. What all the rooms have in common is the material: Swiss stone pine.

Swiss stone pine is a conifer that grows in the Dolomites. It is a soft wood and, for this reason, is not attacked by moths. It is widely used for making furniture, but it is also appreciated for its beneficial properties. Swiss stone pine helps regulate sleep, slows the heartbeat and counteracts dust mites. All these benefits contribute to physical and mental well-being and help reduce stress.
The scent of these rooms will stay in your memory for a long time!

Three Days Immersed in the Mountains of Trentino

During these three days, you will experience tradition up close, surrounded by meadows, Alpine pastures and majestic mountain ranges such as the Maddalene and the Ortles-Cevedale, as well as the famous Brenta Dolomites group: a spectacle you will be able to admire directly from the mountain hut terrace!
