Trekking among Sella and Sassolungo mountain ranges: guided hiking tour

Together with the local Mountain Guides, we will experience a pleasant 3 day hiking tour: a special opportunity to get closer to the exciting world of mountain trails and learn more about the Ladin culture of Val di Fassa, one of the most renowned valleys in the Dolomites.

By walking along this itinerary, we will admire the succession of gentle alpine grasslands and wild valleys nestled among imposing vertical walls, the peculiar lunar landscape in the heart of Sella rocky plateau, the warmth of the alpine hospitality with the traditional flavours of Trentino's cuisine… and the magic of Enrosadira: once we reach the hut there will be a priceless show waiting for us, because while the sun sets, it lights the mountains with fire red shades which then disappear in the darkness of the night, making space for starry skies.

Program details:

• Day 1 - PIZ BOE'
  Ascent: +370m. Descent: -390m. Distance: 5km. Hiking time: 3h.
  At 08:30 meeting with the Mountain Guide and short overview of the program. Private transfer to Pordoi Pass (2.239 m) and from here a lift leads us to the summit of Sass Pordoi (2.864 m). This beautiful location is also known as "Dolomites' terrace" for its characteristic overhanging shape and the grandiose panorama which ranges from the nearby Dolomite groups to the Ortler Cevedale and the Austrian Alps. After starting to cross a lunar landscape, we begin the ascent to Piz Boè (3.152 m), the highest peak of Sella mountain range. The trail is perfectly equipped and it doesn't present any technical difficulty. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2.873 m).
   
• Day 2 - SELLA PASS
  Ascent: +300m. Descent: -1000m. Distance: 8km. Hiking time: 5h.
  After crossing Sella plateau, we will reach Forcella Antersass to then undertake the long descent along the wild Val Lasties until Sella Pass, the well-known border between Val di Fassa and Val Gardena. Last short stretch towards the hut (2.218 m) located at the foot of Sassolungo. Dinner and overnight stay in hut. 
   
• Day 3 - FRIEDRICH AUGUST ROUTE
  Ascent: +150m. Descent: -800m. Distance: 8km. Hiking time: 3h.
  Short ascent to Col Rodella where the beautiful Friedrich August Route starts. This pleasant trail is set in high altitude and runs underneath the majestic walls of Sassolungo and Sasso Piatto. From here the descent begins, across the meadows of Val Duron nestled among Sassolungo and Catinaccio mountain ranges. Once we arrive at Rifugio Micheluzzi there is a short transfer back to Campitello di Fassa.

The program could be changed at discretion of the Campo Base Team / Mountain Guide - UIAGM based on weather conditions and snow levels, mantaining however inalterate the basic structure and the aims of the proposal.
