PROGRAM
Guided 3-day hut to hut via ferrata in the Brenta Dolomites
Bocchette is one of the best and most beautiful via ferrata tour in the Dolomites and it is the quintessential symbol of the Brenta Dolomites. This via ferrata is also one of the most complete and articulated via ferrata systems in the Alps.
The accomplishment of this particular high-altitude route began in the 1930s to connect all the huts in Brenta with a single crossing. Taking advantage of the mountains' natural ledges it allows hikers to enter the extraordinary vertical world and enjoy the spectacular Dolomites at an altitude above 2.500 meters.
The via ferrata itinerary covers in 3 days the most famous part of this great hiking crossing, which actually runs along the whole Brenta massif starting from Grostè Pass to the Rifugio XII Apostoli above the Banale area.
Program details:
- Day 1 - BENINI ROUTE
Hiking time: 5h (3h via ferrata).
At 08:30 meeting with the Mountain Guide and equipment check. Ascent by lifts to Grostè Pass (2.442 m) and from here in a short time you reach the first equipped ledge of Benini route: the ideal introduction to the fascinating world of via ferrata. Enjoying the overwhelming view on the rocky towers of Val Flavona, you go around Grosté Massif and, skirting the slopes of Falkner peak, proceed towards Bocca del Tuckett. Last descent on well-equipped rocks until the hut. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2.272 m).
- Day 2 - SOSAT ROUTE
Hiking time: 4h (3h via ferrata).
Sosat route is a well-known via ferrata that, using long metal ladders and pegs, develops on the eastern side of the Brenta Dolomites and leads to Vedretta degli Sfulmini, a suggestive natural amphitheater surrounded by imposing vertical walls of dolostone. Dinner and overnight stay in hut (2.580 m).
- Day 3 - BOCCHETTE CENTRALI
Hiking time: 7h30 (4h via ferrata).
After a short ascent, you reach Bocca d'Armi and the start of Bocchette Centrali, the most spectacular part of the whole itinerary. It is characterized by a pronounced exposure in the passagess on the mountain side overlooking Lake Molveno and by a spectacular crossing underneath Campanile Basso (2.620 m). The route ends once you reach Bocca di Brenta, from here the descent along Upper Val Brenta begins following the scenic Bogani route until Rifugio Vallesinella (1.513 m). Return by pubblic transport to the meeting point and departure.
