Ski mountaineering tour from Fanes to Braies: in the heart of the Dolomites

Come with us to discover the fairytale-like environment in the Fanes, Sennes, Braies Natural Park, homeland of many Ladin legends!

With its 25 thousand hectares of extensione, this protected area is characterized by a great morphology variety and by the quality of the snow, that shines in the sun.

High peaks, steep gullies, uncontaminated slopes and open valleys will be our ingredients for a fabulous and perfect ski mountaineering tour among the most enchanting landscapes of the South Tyrolean Dolomites.

The charming atmosphere and the delicious cuisine typical of the Fanes and Sennes huts will finally welcome us back from each excursions, cheering up our pleasant evenings with friends.

Program details

  • 1° day - RIFUGIO FANES 2.060 m
    Ascent: +570m. Skiing time: 2h.
    At 13:00  meeting with the alpine Guide for a short briefing on the prorgam and equipment check. 
    Skiies on we start our tour towards Alpe di Fanes and reach the homonymous hut. This accomodation will be our basecamp for the first part of the program. Dinner and overnight stay in hut..
  • 2° day - MONTE CASTELLO 2.817 m
    Ascent: +770m. Descent: -770m. Skiing time: 4h30.
    From the hut in a short time we reach Passo di Limo (2.174 m) where the view opens onto Fanes plateau and the main surrounding peaks, with a glimpse on our destination! The itinerary continuos gently towards Vallon Bianco to then clim the slope of the towering Monte Castello from where we will enjoy a fabulous view of the Tofane mountain group. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.
  • 3° day CIMA DIECI 3.026 m
    Ascent: +1430m. Descent: -1430m. Skiing time: 6h.
    Today's excursion starts in direction of Pices Fanes plateau and after having crossed the eastern slopes of Monte Castello we proceed on steep slopes towards Sass da les Diesc ridge, that we follow untili we reach the final rocks. Skiis off, a final stretch on via ferrata takes us to the summit, where there is an exceptional viewpoint over Alta Badia. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.
  • 4° day - CRODA CIAMIN 2.610 m
    Ascent: +900m. Descent: -900m. Skiing time: 4h30.
    We head towards Sennes plateau, where the homonymous hut is located. The itinerary runs through the wide valley of Val di Mezzo which, with a costant development, end at an altidude of 2.610 m with Corda Ciamin. From here we undertake the descent along the north side passing through Fodara Vedla hut. Dinner and onvernight stay in hut.
  • 5° day - CRODA ROSSA PIZORA 2.857 m
    Ascent: +950m. Descent: -950m. Skiing time: 4h.
    The daily excursion begins with some gentle ups and down to Conca de Fosses where there is the homonymous lake. With a now more marked ascent we continue towards the vast plateau of Croda Rossa di Anterselva and after having reached the summit, we go up the ridge of Piccola Croda Rossa. The summit gives us an excellent view of the impsing bulk of Croda Rossa d'Ampezzo, the crags of Cortina and Val Pusteria. Dinner and overnight stay in hut. 
  • 6° day - MONTE SELLA DI SENNES 2.787 m
    Ascent: +800m. Descent: -800m. Skiing time: 4h.
    We dedicate this day to the classic ski mountaineering excursion on Muntejela de Sennes. We reach the large basin where the Munt de Senes hut is located and through a system of valleys we continue up to the rocky slopes of Monte Sella. With a series of tight hairpin bends we climb up to the ridge, from here a last stretch with a mostly flat course leads us to the summit. Dinner and overnight stay in hut.
  • 7° day - COL DEL RICIOGOGN 2.650 m
    Ascent: +550m. Descent: -1100m. Skiing time: 3h30.
    The first part of our excursion develops without significant difference in height along the wide Val Alciara up to the foot of the Seitenbachscharte. We then take the narrow ridge uphill which with a series of hairpin bends leads us to the forerunner of the Col de Riciogogn, to then cross a traverse along the ridge until we reach the top of Riciogogn. Our adventurous descent begins with a steep and fun slope up to the saddle of the same name and continues to Lake Braies.

The program could be changed at discretion of Campo Base Team / Mountain Guide - UIAGM based on weather conditions and snow levels, mantaining however inalterate the basic structure and the aims of the proposal.
